For information on current screen printing workshops or other art classes I’m doing, sign up for my mailing list here or have a look at my Linktr.ee. You can also follow me on Eventbrite here.
I have a CTTLLS qualification and have taught or facilitated one-off workshops and longer term arts programmes for private individuals, charities and arts organisations across Manchester and Stockport. I’ve worked with children, young people and adults; teaching printmaking, embroidery, leatherwork, textiles and paper crafts. Lots of my teaching has involved working with adults and children with learning disabilities or additional needs, including neuro-divergent folk.
Depending on the project, I use the Artists’ Union Rates of Pay as a good jumping off point for teaching. Bearing in mind that art classes often involve a huge number of materials (and I’m never knowingly under-equipped), I also charge additional fees for materials and prep time.
For group bookings, just send me an email on [email protected] to discuss – I regularly teach craft groups / art collectives / groups of friends either in their own space or one I’ve hired for the occasion. For screen printing, I can teach groups of up to 12 people, as long as there’s a sink.
Subjects I teach include:
- stencil screen printing (acrylic inks, beginner +)
- mono screen printing (acrylic inks, intermediate +)
- monoprint with natural inks
- simple book making (concertina, explosion, Japanese stab-bound books)
- paper collage with natural inks / screen printed papers
- making avocado ink
- making blackberry ink + teaching participants how to shift the colour with store cupboard ingredients and use the ink for drawings
- dip pen still life drawing with food waste inks
- drawing at scale with natural, plant-based and mineral inks
- screen print & stitch (learn to screen print, then add embroidered marks to make a modern piece of textile art)
- screen printing at scale with a mini silk screen (textile design, repeat pattern printing)
- stencil screen printing on plywood (to make jewellery or wall art)
- drypoint etching and chine collee (both lo-fi with a pasta maker and pro with an etching press)
- printmaking with a pasta machine
- screen print a lampshade (design and create your own textile, turn it into a beautiful lampshade)
